DescriptionFrom the photographer: “A rich collection of celestial objects that occurred on the morning of 1 August 2024. The first element of interest is the presence of the lunar sickle, which can be photographed in the winter Milky Way without dazzling it on a single day during the year, i.e. the time when our galaxy is low on the horizon exactly when the lunar sickle rises. The alignment between Jupiter, Mars and Aldebaran can be observed next, followed by the alignment between Uranus and the Pleiades. The scene takes place between the constellations of Auriga and Taurus. Below you can see Mount Etna in eruption and Lake Pozzillo, which is practically reduced to a small puddle of water. In fact, the drought that has been affecting Sicily has caused the reservoir to dry up and it appears as a flat expanse covered with small bushes.”Info Photographer: Dario Giannobile Location: Europe | Italy | Sicily Date: 2024, Aug 01 Sharecomments (0)Leave a comment Cancel ReplyFull Name Email Address your comment The World At Night (TWAN) is an international effort to present stunning nightscape photos and timelapse videos of the world’s landmarks against celestial attractions.
